Book Review: Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell
I guess this isn’t exactly a book which absolutely everybody would like to read, since it has its scientific points and social parts. However, I myself enjoyed it very much because not only did it broaden my general knowledge with interesting facts, which I’d never thought I’d need, but it also showed me its inside logic which pretty much is: everything has its logic and/or is derived from a certain pattern which applies not only to its present state, but it’s most likely to keep occuring in the future as this thing (or a person or a group of people) grow and develop through time. It gives a good perspective as to why the so-called ‘otliers’ are outliers and what makes them so extraordinary and different from everyone else. Also, it gives hope to the rest of the population of our planet that they don’t need any specific special talents to succeed in life if they’re stubborn enough to stick with the thing they enjoy doing and dare to work harder than anybody else in the field. I don’t know how such a statement would make you feel, but it was definitely quite encouraging for me. Luck shouldn’t be underestimated, but the real outliers are not the ones who have had a good opportunity in their lives - the outliers are the ones who had the opportunity and had the brains and guts to seize it.
