Movie Review: Now Is Good (2012)

Are you ready to cry? Do you think you’re prepared to have your heart broken into a million pieces because of something you’ve known from the very beginning?
This is not a surprising story. You know how it ends. And yet…
I guess people are right when they say it’s not the destination that matters but the journey itself. Because otherwise I can’t see a reason this movie had such an impact on me.
I’m afraid of spoiling it for you by saying too much, but I’m also worried that if I don’t say enough you may never watch it. And that would be such a pity. If you think you can handle it, you have to watch it, you have to feel it, you have to experience it. Because even though it’s a story about death it is actually a requiem of life. It is about appreciating the time you have and fulfilling it with things worth remembereing. It’s about not wasting time, about not being afraid, about going further, being louder, being alive.
And it’s about the people you love, and how much they love you back. Not because they’re supposed to, but simply because they do.
It’s also about being happy. Not because of what’s happening to you, but because you want to. Despite everything.
It’s about taking risks and staying safe.
This story is not simply a movie - it’s an experience. It’s an experience which combines reading the book (Before I Die by Jenny Downham) and watching the film with all of its sounds and images, and colors.
And it’s beautiful.
I think that now is good to watch Now Is Good. Don’t you?
